Some are already fans, while others are yet to discover them: Wiegert’s teeth-breaking Christmas cookies, which are nevertheless very tasty. The first secret is, of course, to add enough sugar, the second is that it’s all about who you share them with, and the third is to labor with a spoon instead of a mixer. Whether they bring luck or not is still unknown, but they are undoubtedly special 🙂

As usual, the recipe is at the very bottom of the page, buried under a heap of irrelevant chatter. As I mentioned, the cookies are quite hard, and Froukje has suggested a few possible adjustments:

The Activity Committee of our association usually eats together every Thursday. Nowadays, it’s often Noor who cooks for the committee (and Wiegert), instead of rotating it every meeting as is customary in other committees like the Web Committee. This is because Noor was very disappointed a few years ago with what the other committee members had cooked. Are you curious about the recipe that has shaped the association so much? Then you’re in the right place.

As students, you spend a lot of your time at ‘school’, though it’s often questioned whether it really teaches you the skills you need in real life. Have you ever learned what to do with a sole fish?
Price estimate: As expensive as the piece of sole you want to cook.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
Put butter in the pan and let it melt. Sauté 2 cloves of garlic and two onions. Put the sole with bones and skin in the pan, without guts and head. Add pepper, salt, and parsley. Add a little olive oil, orange zest, and juice. Cook the fish until done. The fish is done when it is no longer translucent.

A delicious savory dish, with pickles for some tanginess, tasty with curry for more spice, and of course, mayo for that rich taste.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
Cook the halved potatoes in their skins, the largest at the bottom, half-submerged in water until just barely cooked through. They shouldn’t start to crumble at the edges. This takes about 10 minutes. Drain, steam off, and let them cool halfway. While the potatoes are cooking, mix the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Remove the skins from the still-warm potatoes and cut them into small cubes (it’s okay if some cubes are more cooked than others). Gently mix the potato cubes into the sauce and let the flavors meld for an hour. Preferably eat it lukewarm and not straight from the fridge.

Recipe:
Heat a large pan over medium and add a flour tortilla. Sprinkle grated cheese over half of it along with your toppings of choice! (I usually go for bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms). Fold the tortilla in half to cover the toppings and cook for 2-3 mins on each side until the cheese melts and the tortilla is golden-brown. This goes great with dips like salsa, guacamole, and sour cream.
